How to check and edit hosts on macOS?

Step 1: Locate the Hosts File

  1. Access System Folder

    • Open Finder

    • Click Go in the menu bar → Go to Folder...

    • Enter:

      text
      /etc
    • Click Go

  2. Find Target File

    • In the /etc directory, locate:

      • File name: hosts

      • Note: This is a system file (no file extension)

Step 2: Edit Hosts File (If Wondershare Entries Exist)

  1. Create Backup Copy

    • Right-click hosts file → Copy

    • Paste to Desktop (creates hosts copy)

  2. Modify Contents

    • Right-click desktop copy → Open With → TextEdit

    • Delete ALL lines containing:

      wondershare
    • Save changes 

  3. Replace Original File

    • Drag the modified file from the Desktop back to /etc

    • Authenticate with the administrator password when prompted

    • Choose Replace when asked

  • You must have admin privileges to modify system files
