Troubleshooting Filmora Network Connection Issues
Follow these steps in order:
1. Switch Networks & Restart
-
Connect to an alternative network (e.g., switch from Wi-Fi to mobile hotspot).
-
Restart Filmora to verify connectivity.
2. Disable Security Tools
-
Temporarily turn off antivirus/firewall/VPN software.
-
Restart Filmora to check if the issue persists.
-
Re-enable security tools afterward for protection.
3. Check the Hosts File
The hosts file may block Wondershare domains. Here's how to inspect/modify it:
Path: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.- Copy the hosts file to your desktop.
- Right-click the desktop copy > Open with Notepad.
- Delete any line containing wondershare (e.g., 127.0.0.1 www.wondershare.com).
- Save the file.
- Replace the original hosts file (in etc folder) with the modified desktop copy.
- Restart your PC.
Note: Admin rights are required. If saving fails, save the modified file to a different location (e.g., Documents), then drag it into etc and confirm admin privileges.
4. Change DNS Settings
Using Google DNS often resolves domain-related issues.
For Windows 11:
-
Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi (or Ethernet).
-
Click your connected network.
-
Under "DNS server assignment," click Edit > Set to Manual.
-
Toggle IPv4 > Enter:
Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
-
Click Save.
For Windows 10:
-
Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi (or Ethernet).
-
Scroll down > Click Change adapter options.
-
Right-click your active connection > Properties.
-
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Click Properties.
-
Choose Use the following DNS server addresses and enter:
Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
-
Click OK > Restart your PC.
