How to fix the issue when the software doesn't record?

If you have installed the latest version , but still cannot get it to record, then you can try below different solutions according to your situation. 

Situation 1:No sound from computer after turning on SAR.  In this situation , you can follow the method below to check if it helps:
1.    Go to My Computer >Properties> Device Management, then find the sound icon.
2.    Disable the “AMD High Definition Audio Device”.

Situation 2:  No waring message received, but still cannot record the sound. 
There are two possibilities. 

1. There is nothing wrong with the sound card. 
The volume is too small, so the virtual sound card fails to detect the sound.
Then you can try below steps to check if it helps.
(1) Open the sound mixer and click “Open Volume mixer”



(2) Increase the volume of SAR and the music player in the sound control panel.
Go back to SAR and try to record again.

2. There is something wrong with the sound card. Volume is increased but still cannot record sound.
Then you can try below steps to check if it helps.
(1) Open the sound mixer and click “Open Volume mixer”



(2) Check if there is WsAudio_device (or Microsoft) under the drop-down list under the speaker.

If there is:
Please select WsAudio_device (or Microsoft) and then click the speaker icon, it will pop up the Properties window. Recheck the controller information, then select enable and apply to close the window.



If there is not :

Then you can use the "Troubleshoot sound problems”, here are the instructions that may help you .
a. Open the sound mixer and click“ Troubleshoot sound problems”

b.Select WsAudio_device (or Microsoft ) if you see it.

c.Click "Next"

d.Click "Yes, open audio enhancements"

e. In the popped-up Properties windows, please recheck the controller information, then select enable and apply to close the window.

f.Click on "Apply this fix"


g.Click "Close the troubleshotter"

 

h.Open SAR  and then open the Volume mixer. Increase the volume of SAR and the music player in the sound control panel.Go back to SAR and try to record again.

Situation 3: When you press the record button , you received the message that reminds you to open Microphone.There are two possibilities:

1. There is something wrong with the virtual sound card. Then you can try below steps to check if it helps.

(1) Open the sound mixer and click "Open volume mixer"

(2) Check if there is WsAudio_device (or Microsoft) under the drop-down list under the speaker.


If there is:
Please select WsAudio_device (or Microsoft) and then click the speaker icon, it will pop up the Properties window. Recheck the controller information, then select enable and apply to close the window.




If there is not :

Then you can use the "Troubleshoot sound problems”, here are the instructions that may help you .
a. Open the sound mixer and click“ Troubleshoot sound problems”



b.Select WsAudio_device (or Microsoft ) if you see it.

c.Click "Next"


d.Click "Yes, open audio enhancements"


e. In the popped-up Properties windows, please recheck the controller information, then select enable and apply to close the window.


f.Click on "Apply this fix"


g.Click "Close the troubleshotter"


h.Open SAR  and then open the Volume mixer. Increase the volume of SAR and the music player in the sound control panel.Go back to SAR and try to record again.


2.There is nothing wrong with the virtual sound card.Then you can try below steps to check if it helps.

(1) Open the sound mixer and click "open sound settings" 


(2) Reset the Input and Output Device.

a.If there is Ws_Audio Device in the list , please select Ws_Audio Device.

b.If there is no Ws_Audio Device in the list , please select Microsoft.

(3) Microphone setting

a.Open the sound mixer and click on " Open Sound settings"

b.Enter "Microphone" in the search box and clcik "Mocrophone Privacy settings" in the drop-down list.


c.Click "Change" and turn "On" under "Allow apps access your microphone" 


d.Roll down the page to the buttom , then turn "On" under "Choose which Microsoft Store apps can access your microphone"
