What is GPU acceleration?

Last Revised: 2018-08-27 18:19:18
GPU acceleration allows Video Editor to use new NVIDA© CUDA™, AMD®, and Intel® Core™ technologies to output video formats, including h.264 encoder, 2/3 times faster than without acceleration.

Follow the steps below to enable acceleration and speed up your conversion.

For NVIDA© CUDA™ and AMD® technologies:

1. Click Start->Run and type “dxdiag”.
Click OK to open the DirectX DiagnosticTool window. You can check the type of graphics card your computer has, as well as the driver under the Display tab.

2. Make sure that you have the latest driver for your graphics card. To verify that you have the latest driver, go to the link below for your specific graphics card to get the latest installation file.
For NVIDIA® CUDA™ technology: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
For AMD® technology: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/eyespeed_downloads.aspx#1

3. To enable the GPU Acceleration feature click on the Video Editor icon on the top left of the program window. Next click on “Settings” and Enable GPU Acceleration on the pop up window that will appear.

For Intel Quick Sync Video Technology:

If you are using the Intel graphics cards, the program will only perfume GPU encoding with Intel Quick Sync Video technolody, which is built in 2nd generation or above Intel Core Processors. It is recommended to download the latest driver here to allow for better GPU encoding performance. If using the 1st generation Intel Core Processors, you can download Media SDK here.

The steps to enable GPU acceleration with the Intel graphics are the same as that of NVIDIA® CUDA™, AMD® technologies above.
